What is in a restroom trailer?

A restroom trailer is a towable building with separate women's and men's doors, porcelain flushing toilets, vanity sinks with running water, mirrors, LED lighting, a heat and air-conditioning unit, and interior finishes like tile floors and wood cabinetry. Our two-station trailer has one private station per side; the men's side adds a urinal. It needs level ground, a water hose and a 20-amp circuit.

What the site needs

  • A level, firm spot 30 feet long and 12 feet wide that a pickup towing a 15-foot trailer can reach and leave without backing across lawn.
  • A standard garden hose bib within 100 feet (we bring the hose). Without one, we arrive with the fresh tank pre-filled, good for about 300 uses.
  • One dedicated 20-amp outlet within 100 feet (we bring the cord). Without power, add our generator at $175 for the weekend.
  • A spot away from the dance floor and food, downwind of the tent, and within reach of path lighting after dark.

How many guests can a restroom trailer handle?

A two-station trailer handles about 150 guests over a 5-hour reception, or 100 guests when a full bar is open, because each station turns over about one guest per 3 minutes. Above 150 guests, add a second trailer or set two flushable units beside the bar so the trailer line stays short.

Questions renters ask about this unit

Does the trailer need water and power, and what if my venue has neither?

The trailer runs best on a garden hose and one 20-amp outlet per side. Without water, we deliver the 105-gallon fresh tank full, which covers about 300 uses, enough for a 100-guest reception. Without power, we add a quiet generator for $175. Both can be done at a farm field with no utilities.

How far in advance do I need to book a restroom trailer?

Ten days is the latest we can promise a trailer. For Saturdays from late May through October, book 4 to 6 weeks out; those weekends sell first. A 25% deposit holds the date and is refundable until 10 days before the event.

Can the trailer sit on grass?

Dry, firm grass is fine; the trailer is leveled on jacks with pads. After heavy rain, or on a slope, we ask for a gravel or paved spot, because a 4,200-pound trailer sinks and will not level. Tell us if the only access crosses a septic field.

Is the trailer heated and air-conditioned?

Both. The roof unit heats and cools, which is why fall and winter weddings around Butler use trailers rather than flushable units. The heater draws on the same 20-amp circuit, so the outlet should not share a circuit with the band or the coffee urns.

What is the difference between a 2-station and a 3-station trailer?

A 3-station trailer has two women's stalls and one men's stall plus a urinal, in a longer box, and serves about 225 guests. We quote 3-station and larger trailers on request for events over 150 guests; most Butler weddings use the two-station.

Can I rent the trailer for a corporate event on a Wednesday?

Weekday single-day rentals are $1,250 plus delivery. We set it the morning of the event or the afternoon before, and pick up the next business day.

Who empties the trailer and when?

Our pump truck empties the 275-gallon waste tank after the event, at the yard or on site before the trailer moves. Multi-day events get a mid-run pump-out and restock scheduled before the trailer is set.
