What do plants and warehouses in Butler County rent porta potties for?
Industrial customers around Butler rent units for loading docks where truck drivers are not allowed in the building, for lay-down yards and outbuildings far from plant restrooms, for turnarounds and shutdowns that bring 50 to 300 contractors on site for two weeks, for well pads and compressor stations, and for parking-lot repaving or roof projects that cut off a building's restrooms.
- Docks and gates: one unit at the driver check-in so over-the-road drivers stay outside the building.
- Shutdowns and turnarounds: 1 unit per 10 contractors per shift, clustered by work area, serviced daily, pulled the morning the job wraps.
- Yards and outbuildings: units at the far end of a lay-down yard save a 10-minute walk per break.
- Well pads and pipeline ROW: staked, brined, serviced on a route that matches the crew's rotation.
- Water-off days: a backflow repair or main break at a 130-employee building needs 3 units plus 1 handwash for 2 days.
General industry versus construction counts
Fixed workplaces fall under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.141(c): 1 toilet for 1–15 employees, 2 for 16–35, 3 for 36–55, 4 for 56–80, 5 for 81–110, 6 for 111–150, and 1 more per 40 above 150. Contractors on a plant site fall under 1926.51 Table D-1. Both require handwashing facilities. Sources: 1910.141, 1926.51.

How do you handle a plant shutdown with 150 contractors?
For a two-week shutdown with 150 contractors we stage 15 standard units, 2 accessible units and 4 handwash stations the day before mobilization, in clusters of 4–5 near each work area, with a daily morning service and a second pass on 24-hour days. Units are badge-tracked on your site map, serviced by the same driver each day, and pulled within 24 hours of demobilization.
| Shutdown size | Units | Service | Estimated 14-day cost before tax |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 contractors, 1 shift | 5 standard + 1 accessible + 2 handwash | Daily | $4089 |
| 150 contractors, 2 shifts | 15 standard + 2 accessible + 4 handwash | Daily + evening pass | Quoted after site walk |
| 300 contractors, 24-hour | 30 standard + 3 accessible + 8 handwash | Crew on site | Quoted after site walk |
We provide a certificate of insurance naming the owner, a site map with unit IDs, driver safety-orientation attendance, and one invoice per PO. Long placements continue on the 28-day program.

Questions customers ask about this rental
Can you work with our safety orientation and badge-in?
Yes. Our drivers attend site orientations, carry their own PPE (hard hat, glasses, vest, boots, gloves), sign in at the guard shack and follow escort rules. Send the orientation schedule and we book the driver before the first service.
We need units for a 2-week turnaround. Do we pay a full 28 days?
Yes, the unit rate is per 28-day cycle and is not prorated. For shutdowns the larger line is daily service, which is billed per visit. For 5 or more units we quote a volume unit rate.
Do you do twice-daily service on 24-hour sites?
Yes: a morning pump and restock plus an evening pass. For 30 or more units we leave a pump truck and driver on site during day shift.
Can one PO cover the whole year with units at three buildings?
Yes. One account, one PO, one invoice per cycle itemized by building or gate. Units added mid-year appear as new lines with their own start dates.
Our water will be off for a backflow repair. 130 employees, two days. How many units?
Three standard units and one handwash station, delivered the afternoon before, picked up the morning after. One accessible unit if the building has employees who use a chair. We can deliver the same day if the repair is unexpected.
