Porta Potty Rental Questions, Answered by the Butler Office
88 questions people ask before they book, in their own words, with the answers our office gives on the phone. If yours is not here, call (724) 233-8539.
Pricing and what is included
How much is it to rent a porta potty for one day?
$278 for a standard unit in Butler, including delivery and pickup. The event rate covers up to 4 days, so one day and a weekend cost the same.
What would a standard porta potty run per month?
$199 per 28 days with weekly service, plus a one-time $75 delivery and pickup charge on the first invoice. Each later cycle is $199 plus tax.
Is that $199 for the three months I need it, or every month?
Every 28 days. Three months is about 3 cycles: $672 before tax including delivery. There is no contract; cancel any cycle with 1 business day's notice.
Does the price include delivery and pickup?
Event prices include both. Monthly rentals add one $75 delivery and pickup charge on the first invoice only. There is no separate removal fee at the end.
Is there an additional charge for pickup, or is that included?
Included. Delivery and pickup are one charge. When you call for pickup, the unit leaves within 2 business days and nothing else bills.
Is the delivery fee per porta potty or flat for the order?
Flat per order within 25 miles of Butler: $75 for 1 unit or 4. Orders over 10 units or beyond 25 miles are quoted.
Are there mileage charges if the site is out of town?
Within 25 miles of our yard, none. Beyond that, $3 per mile each way on the delivery line only; the unit rate does not change.
Is tax included?
No. Pennsylvania sales tax of 6% is added to the rental line. Delivery is not taxed. Tax-exempt organizations send a REV-1220 before the first invoice.
Do you have a cost sheet with all the different toilets?
Yes: the pricing guide lists every unit, add-on and the fees we do not charge.
How much more is the one with the sink?
The deluxe unit with an interior sink is $395 per event versus $278 for a standard unit, or $289 versus $199 per 28 days.
What is your daily rate?
We do not price by the day. Up to 4 days is the event rate; 5–14 days is event rate plus $60; 15 days and longer uses the 28-day rate, which is usually cheapest.
Is that price good for a week?
$278 covers up to 4 days. A full week is $338, or $274 on the 28-day rate if you might run longer.
Why is the smaller unit sometimes quoted with a higher delivery fee elsewhere?
Brokers quote whichever partner hauler is free, and each sets its own delivery line. We deliver from one yard, so delivery is the same flat charge for every unit.
Do you need a deposit, or can I write a check?
Events are paid at booking by card, or by check received 7 days before delivery. Trailers take a 25% deposit. Monthly rentals pay the first cycle at delivery; contractors can apply for net-15 invoicing.
Can you put us on terms or take a PO?
Businesses and contractors can apply for net-15 terms with a credit application and W-9. PO numbers print on every invoice.
Can you email or text me the quote?
Yes. Every quote goes out by text or email as an itemized list. Reply to it when you are ready and the order is booked.
Do you give a discount for renting several units?
Yes, for 4 or more event units or 5 or more monthly units on one order. Festival orders of 10+ start at $218 per standard unit.
Do prices change on Memorial Day or July 4th weekend?
Unit rates do not change. Availability does; those weekends sell out, so book 2–3 weeks ahead. The only holiday charge is $150 for a same-day emergency delivery on the holiday itself.
Delivery timing, same-day and weekends
Do you do same-day delivery?
Yes, Monday through Saturday when you call before 1 PM and the address is in Butler County or the Pittsburgh north suburbs. It adds $75 because a driver leaves his route.
If I order today, when could it be delivered?
Before 1 PM: today, usually within 3 hours in the City of Butler and Butler Township. After 1 PM: tomorrow morning between 7 and 10. Next-day delivery has no extra charge.
Can you deliver tomorrow morning before 8 AM?
Yes. Ask for the first stop; trucks leave the Hollywood Drive yard at 7 AM and the first drops in Butler happen by 7:30.
The party is Saturday. Can you deliver Saturday and pick up Sunday?
We deliver Saturdays but do not run Sunday pickups. The normal plan is Friday delivery and Monday pickup at the same event price, so you are never waiting on a truck on party day.
Can you drop it off the morning of and pick it up that night?
Not the same day. Delivery day and pickup day are separate route days. Friday-to-Monday costs the same as one day, so there is no saving in rushing it.
Is there a way to do just one day?
Yes on a weekday: deliver one morning, pick up the next morning, at the same event rate. Weekends are Friday to Monday.
What is your usual pickup time?
Pickups run after the morning deliveries, usually between 10 AM and 4 PM on the scheduled day. Ask for a morning pickup if the spot needs to be clear early.
Can you deliver on a Sunday?
Only as an emergency by arrangement, for $150. Call Saturday before 7 PM.
Would it be too late to request a porta potty for this Saturday?
Call by Friday 1 PM for Friday delivery, or by Saturday 1 PM for a same-day Saturday delivery in Butler County. Holiday weekends may be sold out; call early.
Monday is a holiday. When do you pick up?
Tuesday, at no extra charge.
How far ahead should I book?
Standard units: a few days, or same day in a pinch. Event units for June–October Saturdays: 2–3 weeks. Restroom trailers: 10 days minimum, 4–6 weeks for peak Saturdays.
Can I pick the unit up myself with my truck?
No. Units travel only on our trucks so they arrive clean, level and stocked. There is no customer pickup at the yard.
Which unit to choose
What is the difference between standard, deluxe and flushable?
Standard: toilet, urinal, sanitizer. Deluxe: adds an interior sink, soap, towels and a mirror. Flushable: adds a foot-pedal flush with a closed bowl plus the sink. Full comparison.
Does the standard unit come with hand sanitizer and toilet paper?
Yes, both are stocked at delivery and at every weekly service.
Do you have the kind with a sink inside?
Yes, the deluxe unit, $395 per event. The sink has its own fresh-water tank and needs no hookup.
Does the flushable toilet need a water supply?
No. The flush uses a foot pump and an onboard tank. Only restroom trailers need a hose and power.
Do you have handicap-accessible units?
Yes: a 62 × 62 inch flat-floor unit with grab bars and a 32-inch door, $330 per event. Details.
Are the accessible units flushable?
No. The accessible unit is non-flushing with a flat floor. An accessible flush option exists only in restroom trailers with an ADA-style station.
What is the next level up from the standard?
Deluxe with sink, then flushable with sink, then the two-station restroom trailer.
Do you have units women will not be afraid to use?
The flushable unit: closed bowl, foot flush, sink, mirror, white exterior. It is what we send to weddings and showers.
Do you have the little handwashing sinks on the outside?
Yes, freestanding two-sided handwashing stations with a 22-gallon tank, $147 per event or $125 per 28 days.
Do the restroom trailers have sinks inside?
Yes, vanity sinks with running water, mirrors, flushing toilets, lights, heat and air conditioning. They need a hose bib and a 20-amp outlet.
Do you have air-conditioned restrooms?
The restroom trailers are heated and air-conditioned. Single porta potties are not.
Do the units lock?
From the inside, yes, with an occupied indicator. Outside there is a hasp for a padlock overnight; we supply one on request for public sites.
Can I request a specific color?
You can ask; we send it when one is in the yard. Event units are gray or white, jobsite units mostly blue.
Do you rent to homeowners or only contractors?
Both. About half of our rentals are homeowners: parties, remodels, septic outages, house guests.
Cleaning and servicing
How often do you clean it?
Once a week on monthly rentals, included. Extra visits are $45. Event rentals of 4 days or less are not serviced unless booked.
What does weekly service include?
Pump-out, pressure wash, disinfecting, deodorizer recharge (brine in winter), two rolls of toilet paper, sanitizer refill, and a check of the door, latch and vent.
Can I change the cleaning to twice a week?
Yes, $45 per extra visit. We recommend it for crews over 10 per unit and during July–August heat.
Can I get cleaning every two weeks to save money?
We keep weekly as the minimum on shared units because a tank with 5+ users fills in a week. For a single-user unit at a storage yard, ask and we will price it case by case.
Do you clean it during a weekend event?
Not by default. For events over 150 guests or 6 hours, add a mid-event visit for $45.
Where does the waste go?
To a permitted wastewater treatment plant, hauled under our Pennsylvania DEP septage transporter registration. PA does not allow portable toilet waste to be land-applied.
Does it smell?
Not when the tank is pumped weekly and charged with deodorizer. Heat and overuse cause odor; the fix is a second visit or a second unit.
Do you pump out RV tanks too?
Yes, $95 per pump-out within 25 miles. RV pump-out service.
Placement, access and site questions
Does it need a flat surface?
Yes, level within about 5%, on firm ground. Driveway edges, gravel pads and compacted lawn all work.
Can it be dropped off at a house?
Yes. Most home deliveries go on the driveway edge or side yard. Tell us the gate width; a standard unit needs 48 inches.
Does it need a lot of room?
A standard unit needs a 4 × 4 foot spot and a straight 48-inch path. The truck needs to get within 25 feet.
Should I put it on the street, the curb or my property?
Your property. A unit on a City of Butler street or sidewalk needs an obstruction permit under Code §232-6.
I am in a gated community with an HOA. Any issue?
Give us the gate code and tell the HOA the dates. Most HOAs allow a unit during a remodel or event; a few require it out of view from the street.
The address does not match where the unit goes (barn, field, back lot). How do I tell the driver?
Text a photo or a pin drop to the office number, or describe it ("down the gravel drive to the third barn"). The driver gets the note with the delivery ticket.
What questions should I ask a venue or Airbnb host before booking?
Where a truck can park, whether there is a flat spot within 25 feet of it, whether units may stay Friday to Monday, and whether there is a hose bib and 20-amp outlet if you want a trailer.
It is at a public park. Can it stay there over the weekend?
Only if the park allows it. City of Butler and Butler County parks generally do with a shelter reservation; state parks need a DCNR activity permit. You are responsible for the unit while it is on site.
Do I have to be home for delivery?
No, if the spot is marked, the gate is open and we have a phone number.
Can I move it myself after delivery?
Please call us. A unit with liquid in the tank is heavy and tips. We move it for the delivery charge, or free during a scheduled service if the new spot is within 25 feet.
Rental length, renewal and cancellation
Do you do month-to-month?
Yes. Monthly rentals renew every 28 days with no contract. Call a business day ahead to stop.
Does it automatically renew if I do not call?
Yes, every 28 days, and you get a text 2 days before each renewal.
If I only use it 3 days, do I pay the full month?
Only if you booked a monthly rental. Three days is an event rental at the lower event rate; tell us the real dates and we quote the cheaper option.
What if the job runs longer than expected?
Call before the pickup date and we extend. You never pay two overlapping rentals.
What is your cancellation policy?
Full refund more than 48 hours before delivery; inside 48 hours we keep only the delivery charge. Trailers: 25% deposit non-refundable inside 10 days. Full terms.
Can you hold a unit for me while I check with my boss or spouse?
Yes, until the end of the next business day without payment. For holiday weekends and trailers we ask for a deposit to hold the date.
How do I stop the rental?
Call or text (724) 233-8539. Pickup within 2 business days; billing stops at pickup.
Events, weddings and quantity
How many porta potties for 50 people?
One for a 4-hour party without alcohol; two with a bar; three if it also runs past 4 hours. Calculator.
How many for 100 people at a wedding?
Four standard-class units for a 5-hour reception with a bar (2 for guests, 1 for the extra hour, 1 for the bar), or one two-station trailer. Make one accessible if any guest needs it.
Should I get one for men and one for women?
Not required; units are single-occupancy and lock. Two units do shorten lines at 75+ guests, and some hosts label one each.
I have 130 employees and the water will be off for two days. How many?
Three standard units and one handwash station, plus one accessible unit if an employee uses a chair.
We have a bathroom in the barn. Do we still need units for 60 people?
One unit as backup is enough for 60 guests over 5 hours when a building bathroom is open. Two if a bar is open.
Can you deliver to a park pavilion, a farm field or a campground with no address?
Yes. Send a pin drop or describe the road and landmark; our drivers know Alameda Park, Moraine, Cooper's Lake and the fairgrounds.
Can I decorate the unit for a wedding?
Yes: florals, signage, lanterns, amenity baskets. No adhesives on trailer walls.
Do you provide insurance for a unit at a public park?
We carry liability insurance for our operations and can send a certificate to the park. Damage to the unit while it is in your care is your responsibility under the rental terms.
Construction and long-term
Do you deliver to each of my job sites and move the unit between jobs?
Yes. Moves are a $75 delivery charge; the 28-day cycle continues without a new rental.
How many units does OSHA require for my crew?
1 toilet for 20 or fewer workers; 1 seat + 1 urinal per 40 from 20 to 200. One standard unit counts as a seat and a urinal. OSHA guide.
Do I need a handwashing station on a jobsite?
Where OSHA 1926.51(f) applies (concrete, paint, lead, silica, sewage work), yes: running water, soap and towels near the toilets.
Can we get a certificate of insurance for the GC?
Yes, usually the same day, naming the owner or GC as required.
Do you handle winter jobsites?
Yes. Tanks are brine-charged November–March and service continues weekly on plowed access. Winter guide.
Can we rent for 6 to 10 months without a contract?
Yes. The rate stays the same every 28 days and you stop whenever the job ends.
